About Wood Block Sudoku
Wood Block Sudoku is the warm, low-stress block puzzle that quietly turns into a real test of foresight. You get three hand-carved wooden pieces at a time, anything from a single cube to a long plank, an L, an S, or the dreaded 3x3 square, and you drag each one onto a nine-by-nine grid. The sudoku twist is what makes it sing: a placement clears any line that fills up, but lines come in three flavours at once, full rows, full columns, and full 3x3 boxes, so one clever drop can wipe out several at the same time for a fat combo bonus. Keep clearing on back-to-back placements and a streak multiplier stacks on top. There is no clock and no randomness you cannot see coming; the only pressure is space. Every piece you place eats into the board, the game ends the moment none of your three pieces can fit anywhere, and the whole thing runs on a cozy wood-grain-on-dark look with a satisfying snap each time a piece locks home. Easy to start, genuinely hard to keep alive.
How to play Wood Block Sudoku
Drag one of the three wooden pieces from the tray onto the 9x9 board. A piece can only drop where all of its cells land on empty squares, so a green ghost preview means it fits and a red one means it will not. Completing a full row, a full column, or a full 3x3 box clears those squares and scores points, and clearing more than one at once earns a combo bonus. Chain clears on consecutive placements to build a streak multiplier. When all three pieces are used, three fresh ones appear. The game ends when none of your current pieces can fit anywhere on the board.
Controls
Click or tap and drag a piece from the tray onto the board, then release to drop it; on touch the piece lifts above your fingertip so you can see where it lands. P pauses, M mutes. Your best score and current board save automatically.
Tips & tricks
- Three kinds of line clear at once, rows, columns and 3x3 boxes, so a single piece dropped in a corner box can finish a row and a column too.
- Set up two or three clears to trigger together for a combo bonus that dwarfs single clears.
- Place the big awkward pieces, the 3x3 square and the long planks, while you still have open space for them.
- Keep one 3x3 box mostly empty as a parking spot so a stray large piece always has somewhere to go.
- Clearing on back-to-back placements builds a streak multiplier, so plan a chain instead of one big dump.
