About Hexellent
Hexellent is a chilled-out, brain-bending take on the block-fitting puzzle, rebuilt on a hexagonal honeycomb instead of a square grid. Three randomly shaped hex pieces wait at the bottom of the screen; drag each one onto the board wherever it fits. The twist is the geometry: lines run in three directions across a hex grid, not two, so a single well-placed block can complete rows you didn't even mean to set up. Fill any full line and it clears in a bright flash, and clearing several lines at once stacks a juicy combo bonus. There is no clock — the only pressure is space. Every piece you place eats into the board, and the game ends the moment none of your three pieces can fit anywhere, so the real skill is reading ahead and leaving yourself room. A goal bar tracks your progress toward the next level, the difficulty creeps up as you climb, and a Hint button is always there to point out a legal move when you get boxed in. It is easy to pick up, endlessly replayable, and quietly addictive.
How to play Hexellent
Drag one of the three hex pieces from the tray at the bottom onto the board. A piece can only be placed where all of its hexagons land on empty cells inside the grid — a green highlight means it fits, red means it doesn't. Completing a full line in any of the three hex directions clears those cells and scores points, and clearing multiple lines in one move earns a combo bonus. When all three pieces are used, three new ones appear. Fill the goal bar to advance a level. The game ends when none of your current pieces can fit anywhere — tap Hint if you need to find a legal spot, or Restart to begin again.
Controls
Click or tap and drag a piece from the tray onto the board, then release to drop it. The Hint button highlights a piece and a spot where it fits; Restart starts a fresh board. Works with mouse on desktop and touch on mobile.
Tips & tricks
- Lines run in three directions on a hex grid — scan all three before you place, not just across.
- Set up two or three lines to complete at once for a big combo score bonus.
- Place big and awkward pieces early while you still have open space for them.
- Keep a pocket of empty cells in the middle so a stray large piece always has somewhere to go.
