Games Like Level Devil — Trap Platformers That Lie to Your Face

Jun 5, 2026 · 6 min read

Level Devil broke a lot of brains. The pitch is innocent — walk right, reach the door — and then the floor vanishes, spikes shoot up mid-jump, and the door scoots away just as you reach it. You don't beat those levels by being good. You beat them by dying, learning the trick, and trying again with a smirk.

If that loop is your kind of pain, start here.

Troll Trials — the closest thing we've got

Troll Trials is built on exactly that joke. Fifteen levels, each one lying to you in a new way: platforms that flicker out the second you land, ceilings that drop, controls that flip mid-run and turn your character orange as the only warning. There's even a fake door in the last level. Deaths are free and instant, so it never feels unfair — just rude. In a good way.

When timing matters more than trust

Cube Dash swaps trickery for rhythm. One tap to jump, an endless neon course, and a beat that pulses faster as you speed up. Miss the timing by a frame and you're a cloud of particles. It's less "ha, gotcha" and more "you saw that coming and still flubbed it."

Shadow Leap climbs instead of runs — bounce a ninja between two walls, higher and higher, dodging spikes that slide in from the edges. The wall keeps sliding you downward, so standing still isn't an option. Blade Spin is pure nerve: throw blades into a spinning disc without clipping the ones already stuck. One greedy throw ends it.

The gentler cousin

Not every "just one more" game wants you dead. Sky Hopper is a vertical bouncer — springs, jetpacks, crumbling platforms — that's more about flow than punishment. Good palate cleanser after Troll Trials has you yelling at your screen.

All of these live in the adventure and arcade sections. If trap platformers leave you wanting more reflex stuff, our arcade classics roundup scratches a similar itch, and the endless runners list keeps the "don't stop moving" energy going.
